Key Stage Four
This Pearson Edexcel GCSE German course is taught over two years with students having three lessons a week and home learning tasks. It covers the following five themes: School, Identity and Culture, Local Area, Holidays and Travel, Future Aspirations, Study and Work, International and Global Dimension. Students sit four examinations at the end of year 11, each focusing on one of the four skills: listening, reading, speaking and writing (making up 25% of the qualification each).

Key Stage Five
The Pearson Edexcel Level 3 Advanced GCE in German consists of two externally-examined papers at the end of year 13 assessing listening, reading and writing and a non-examined speaking assessment, during which students discuss their findings from an independent research project. Students are taught three lessons a week by teacher one, and two lessons a week by teacher two. Students also benefit from an independent study session each week, where they are supported by a native foreign language assistant.
