Pupil Premium
Pupil Premium Grant
Each year we receive a Pupil Premium Grant which is an allocation per pupil eligible for Free School Meals or Looked After Children.
Pupil premium is funding to improve education outcomes for disadvantaged pupils in schools in England. Evidence shows that disadvantaged children generally face additional challenges in reaching their potential at school and often do not perform as well as other pupils.
The Government’s Pupil Premium Programme supports the achievement and progress of our students. The grant is to help narrow the gap in performance and improve the quality of teaching and learning for vulnerable groups of children. At Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre we aim for every student to have the same opportunities and access to outstanding teaching and learning and support.
Evidence suggests that pupil premium spending is most effective when schools use a tiered approach, targeting spending across 3 areas, with a particular focus on teaching.
1. Teaching
2. Targeted academic support
3. Wider approaches
The funding allocation to schools for the Pupil Premium Grant is based on the number of students on roll who are eligible for free school meals. If you believe your child is eligible for free school meals then completing a successful claim benefits both your child directly and enables the school to receive more funding. Please do therefore claim your entitlement. To find out more using the government tools please click here
