Homewood school farm

The Farm is an educational facility used by Homewood Schools' popular Young Farmers Club who work towards yearly shows and events. Teaching pupils about Environmental and Conservation issues the farm also incorporates Science, Geography, English and Maths subjects when using the facilities.

The Farm is also open to the community, for educational or pleasure visits and on open days such as the popular lambing days in the spring.

Animals on the Farm

The Farm has many animals including calves, reared from 10 days old, sheep, pigs, and goats. As well as a small animal unit, including, rabbits, guinea - pigs, chickens and ducks.

Learning Opportunities & Curriculum links

The Farm resources can be used in all subjects within the curriculum. Our new conservation area offers lots of learning opportunities within Science and Geography, particularly in topics such as growing, plants, mini beasts and sunlight.

We can provide information, such as costings and weight gains for maths related topics and topics within the Citizenship subject can be particularly focused on with basic needs of animals, general care and responsibility.

We are pleased to announce that the Farm has been re-awarded the quality mark Learning Outside the Classroom – this award recognises the quality of education the Farm provides for our students and for the community through taught lessons, clubs, trips and visits and extra curricular activities.
