Young Carers
There are a number of ways we seek to support our young carers at Homewood and
if you reading this are a young carer, or you are the parent of a young carer, you are not alone. Over 100 of our students are registered young carers.
Homewood works closely with Kent Young Carers, run by Imago, to support young carers through the
offer of:
- 1-1 mentoring sessions and support
- Monthly drop-in sessions at lunchtime
- Support with academic study or careers advice
- Support with applying for the travel pass
- Signposting to other services and support
In all of this our aim is to provide a safe space where they can be listened to and meet other young carers who may be in a similar situation to them.
Young carers must register with Kent Young Carers to be entitled to some of the statutory benefits but are welcome to come along to the monthly drop-ins to meet others and discover more.
You can register as a young carer here:
Imago Community Children and Young People/Kent Young Carers For more information please contact your Family Liaison Officer in the Community Office who will be able to guide you through the process of seeing whether you are eligible to register, and then support you with the registration process.
