At Key Stage 3, all students follow a core of schemes of work that are cross-curricular in a highly creative learning environment. At Key Stages 3 and 4, students are generally taught in mixed-ability groups, although there is a single high-ability set in each of the timetabling bands. Students requiring additional support are offered the Literacy Progress Units and literacy mentoring.
At GCSE, all students are entered for both AQA English Language and English Literature syllabus, with just a few studying the GCSE English only course. Results are consistently impressive with value added at every Key Stage.
At A Level, English Literature, English Language and Literature and creative writing are consistently amongst the most popular subject choices of sixth form students. All courses follow AQA specifications.
