Attention all Graduates

The introduction of the School Direct training programme enables us to play a lead role in the recruitment, training and development of graduates working in partnership with ITT lead schools and Canterbury Christ Church University.

This is a new route into teaching and you will be learning and training in the classroom whilst being supported by qualified teachers and learning directly from Homewood School’s experienced professionals. On successful completion of the programme you will be supported to find employment in a Mid Kent Learning Alliance or partner school.

The School Direct (non-salaried) Training programme is open to all graduates and is funded by tuition fees paid by the graduate, who may receive a bursary from the National College for Teaching and Leadership (NCTL) dependant on their initial status, subject and degree classifications.

We are pleased to announce that Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre is offering non-salaried School Direct Training places in Mathematics, English, Physics, Chemistry and Biology through the Mid-Kent Learning Alliance, Invicta Grammar School, Business Centre, Huntsman Lane, Maidstone, Kent. You will train in the classroom at Homewood School and Sixth Form Centre.

Please register and apply through the UCAS website, click on ‘Find a training programme’ and you will be able to find Homewood School by ensuring you initially search for Mid Kent Learning Alliance.

Your application will then be sent to MKLA for shortlisting. Please note placement offers on the training programme will be conditional upon an Enhanced DBS through the Data and Barring Service, CCCU entry requirements and the successful completion of Government skills tests.

If you have any queries, please don’t hesitate to contact Mrs Nicki Callingham or Mrs Karen Nicholls, Human Resources via or by calling us on 01580 764222 Ext 298.

We look forward to hearing from you.
