Congratulations to Year 10 Homewood student Kieran who has come third out of over 9000 entrants in the national FutureChef competition organised by the charity, Springboard.
Kieran entered the competition at Regional Level due to him winning Kent Young Chef last November. The competition that took place on Monday 27th March 2017 started with over 9000 competitors from all over the UK. The 12 finalists that competed at Westminster College came from as far afield as Aberdeen and Northern Ireland. Kieran won many prizes including £100 cash prize from the Worshipful Company of Cooks and courtesy of Firmdale Hotels, an exciting opportunity to meet and greet head chefs and a variety of innovative masterclasses.
Kieran’s mum, Susan Jones says, ‘It was extremely tense, but exciting. When they announced Kieran had won 3rd place it was amazing- I am so proud of him.’
Mrs Lees, Principal of Homewood School, added her congratulations:
“This is a fantastic achievement and even more admirable as Kieran had been performing in a lead role in the school production of Sweeney Todd the night before the competition. We are really proud of his achievements”.
