Higher Level Teaching Assistant, Heather Hayes from Homewood School has been working with Sixth Formers and year 7 and 8 students to raise funds for the charity UNICEF. The charity was chosen by year 8 students following a Humanities project about child soldiers completed earlier this year.

Since February each tutor group in the Discovery College has organised their own fundraising event, assisted by the sixth formers who are the charity representatives across the school. Students have given generously and have made great contributions including very popular cake sales, tombola and a treasure hunt. Due to their hard work they have raised £600 so far.

Heather will also be running the Brighton Marathon in support of UNICEF. We wish Heather her personal best at the finish line on Sunday 9th April.

Heathers says, ‘I would like to thank all the students, parents and staff who have supported me for helping to raise funds for our Discovery charity.’
