The PE Department offers a wide range of opportunities to our students during curriculum time and out of school hours learning (OSHL). During curriculum time the students participate in a wide range of activities in a range of content areas of the new PE Curriculum.
Homewood is at the forefront of utilising ICT technology across the whole school curriculum to enhance teaching and learning. Here in the PE Department we are no different, making use of global technologies such as Microsoft applications, Interactive Smartboard activities, and Virtual Learning Environemts (VLE's) in our GSCE/BTEC/A level classroom lessons. We also have access to one of the most advanced video analysis applications Dartfish, which has become an effective assessment for learning tool across our practical activities. One of the most exciting ICT developments within the PE department is the use of our school VLE called Realsmart. Realsmart is a suite of online tools that help students learn and teachers track, assess, and record progress. Realsmart encourages self assessment - helping learners to learn and recognise when and where they've made progress, where they need to go next, and how they get there. It is also a tool for students themselves to assess and record their learning journey.
The Sports Hall was opened in January 2001 and has provided Homewood with a wonderful sports facility. Its provisions include:
