Upcoming Events

The KIC Centre was opened in June 2006. It is spacious, well designed and an important resource for the whole school. Its aims are to provide a wide range of materials that match the needs of National Curriculum, promote reading for pleasure and fully support teaching and learning throughout the school.

Opening times

  • Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday 8:00am - 4:30pm
  • Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm

Student use of the KIC Centre

Students may use the library before school, at break and lunchtimes and help with homework is offered after school. Students can also work in the library for research during lessons providing they have a written permission from their teacher and classes are time tabled into the library across all subjects. Resource borrowing is via the thumbprint scanner linked to registration.

There are reading groups for students to join and History Club, Film Club and Wowii Sports and Games are popular after school activities.

The library invites prominent young peoples’ authors in for talks and creative writing workshops on a regular basis.

Homewood’s Key Stage 3 Library

The Key Stage 3 Library has been purpose designed to support teaching and learning for year 7 and 8 students.

It has been stocked with a wide range of inspiring new resources to match both curriculum needs and students’ reading for pleasure. There is a current Recommended Reading booklet to help students select the best titles along with access to Overdrive the library’s collection of eBooks. Story time, competitions, films and newsletters are regular features of the library. There is also a comprehensive range of stationery items for sale.
