Upcoming Events

The PE Department offers a wide range of opportunities to our students during curriculum time and out of school hours learning (OSHL). During curriculum time the students participate in a wide range of activities in a range of content areas of the new PE Curriculum.

Homewood is at the forefront of utilising ICT technology across the whole school curriculum to enhance teaching and learning. Here in the PE Department we are no different, making use of global technologies such as Microsoft applications, and Virtual Learning Environments (VLE's) in our KS3, GSCE, BTEC and A level classroom lessons.

Our Vision

At Homewood we will pursue excellence for all in PE & Sport and excellence through PE & Sport. We will increase their self-esteem, infuse them with a sense of pride in their successes, encourage them to strive for improvement, motivate them to achieve more and thus raise their standards of attainment in all areas of the curriculum.

It is our vision to raise standards of achievement in Physical Education and Sport for all our students across the ability range leading to whole school improvement.  We shall increase participation in Physical Education and Sport for all pre and post 16 year olds and develop the potential of talented performers.

As a  department we hope to make young people healthier, encourage them to develop their self-discipline and teamwork skills, develop their leadership potential and introduce them to activities they may enjoy and derive health benefits from for a lifetime.

By providing enhanced opportunities and offering encouragement to engage in PE & Sport as spectators, participants, coaches, administrators or officials, the members of our community will be included in the benefits that PE & Sport can provide.

We aim to raise standards of teaching, learning and opportunities in Physical Education and Sport and to broaden the range of opportunities available to students which best meet their needs and interests.
